The Trees & Seas Film Festival, Inspiring Young Minds to Care for the Planet

This month, We Save The World helped bring the Trees & Seas Film Festival into several classrooms and the results were powerful. A teacher at Alexander Valley School screened Bhutan and Mauri Moana for 16 students. Their biggest takeaway? The students left with a clearer sense of why the environment matters. They were engaged and curious, and the teacher is already excited to take part again next year with one small but helpful note that videos without subtitles worked best for that group.

Students, teachers, and families connect with the Trees & Seas Film Festival

At Nervi Ferrari School, eight classes (141 students total) watched Bhutan, Green Paradise in Danger and, for some classes, The Inga Tree Model. Students were active and asked great questions. They showed real interest in learning about other places and how people relate to nature. The teachers suggested we provide debate ideas so classes can dig deeper after the screenings a great idea we’ll be acting on.

We also heard from a teacher at Santa Rosa French American Charter School – Montgomery Jr/Sr High School, who took two classes (7th and 8th grade) to the festival. The films tied directly into their science curriculum, and the follow-up conversations were “gentle and thoughtful,” exactly like the documentaries themselves. Students showed a stronger grasp of how human choices affect ecosystems and were moved by real examples of civic engagement. As the teacher put it, "we are helping build an aware, compassionate generation one that can bring about real change to the planet". These classroom screenings prove something simple and true, that when the young generations see real stories of people caring for the planet, they listen, respond, and act. They don’t just learn facts they connect emotionally and start thinking about what they can do.

And that is why we came up with the Eco-Hero Launchpad, to help these young generation do something for the planet, its simple and fun, making sure your child Launch a mission on what he or she loves to protect be it an animal or fight against pollution protecting nature.

If you’re a parent, guardian, or teacher reading this: encourage your child to get involved. Our Eco-Hero Launchpad gives young people a space to turn their ideas into action, raise funds, and get support for real projects. Let’s give kids the chance to be heard and to lead.
