We know that it is important that you can use the We Save the World story-sharing platform without worrying that your personal information may end up somewhere you don’t want it. Never fear! We are here to help you save the world, not to help other businesses or strangers contact you.

We do not share your personal information with any third party operator. That means we do not share your personal information with anyone. Anything you share is up to you and your parents.
What type of information do we collect?
We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. We collect personally identifiable information including name, email, birth date, city, and potentially communications preferences, comments, feedback, and recommendations in order to analyze our programs and offer you support or opportunities we think you might like to take advantage of.

We may use software tools to measure and collect session information, including page response times and length of visits to certain pages.
How do we collect information?
When you conduct a transaction on our website, as part of the process, we collect personal information you give us such as your name, city, and email address. Your personal information will be used for the specific reasons stated above only.
Why do we collect information?
We collect such Non-personal and Personal Information for the following purposes:

How do we store, use, share and disclose our site visitors' personal information?
Our website and the Service it provides is hosted by Google Firebase, a set of cloud computing services and application development platforms that help developers build and run apps for the web and mobile. We store User data using Google Firebase data storage processes which store your data on secure servers behind a firewall.

We do not share or disclose our Users’ personal information to anyone outside of the We Save the World team, without permission. For example, if we wanted to feature a particular Eco-Hero’s accomplishments in our newsletter, we would not do so without getting their consent, or the consent of their parents if they are under 13.
How do we communicate with Users or Contacts who subscribe to our email list?
We may contact you to notify you about upcoming events, to poll your opinions through surveys or questionnaires, to send updates about our company or your usage of our Services, or as otherwise necessary to contact you to enforce applicable national laws. For these purposes we may contact you via email or dashboard notification.
Do we collect or store financial information? No.
For online donation or payment processing, we provide a payment gateway offered by Stripe.com which adheres to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover. PCI-DSS requirements help ensure the secure handling of credit card information.

We use cookies on our website only for functional purposes related to your information, like your contact information and the stories you create, being stored and retrieved from our database.
We Save the World Privacy Policy Compliance with Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA)
This message explains how We Save the World complies with COPPA for users under age 13, as required by the United States Federal Trade Commission.
What type of information do we collect?
We collect your name, email address, password, city and state, eco-hero name, and personal statement about why you want to save the world when you enter them in your Eco-Hero Dashboard profile. Only your name and email are mandatory. We need that information to maintain your account accurately and update you on your progress. We also save stories you create on the We Save the World platform in our database hosted by Google Firebase so that you can share your stories how and when you choose.
How and why do we use the personal information we collect?
We may use the personal information to contact you to let you know about We Save the World news, upcoming Eco-Hero opportunities, send you reminders, or notifications about badges or prizes you have won.

We do not ask your child to disclose more information than is reasonably necessary to participate as an Eco-Hero on our platform.

Parents must provide consent for any child under age 13 to use the We Save the World platform. Parents provide consent by creating a Parent Authorization Account which we link to their children’s accounts or by signing a Parent Permission Form. Parent consent means you grant consent for your child to use our platform and for We Save the World to collect and use personal information provided by the child for the purpose of maintaining their Eco-Hero Dashboard and sharing stories they create on the platform. We collect the child’s name, email address, password, city and state, eco-hero name, and personal statement about why they want to save the world. Only their name and email are mandatory.

Parents can review their child’s personal information, direct We Save the World to delete it, and refuse to allow any further collection or use of their child’s information.

If your child is under age 13, and you do not authorize your child’s account, we will delete it.

Parental consent is required for collection and use of this information. You can give your child permission to use our service by making a Parent Account. If you grant consent, we will also ask your child for details to complete their Eco-Hero Dashboard profile, including their city, state, Eco-Hero name, and personal statement about why they want to save nature. Your child will be authorized to use our digital platform to write stories about saving nature and share those stories with anyone through email, texting, or on social media.

We Save the World does not share your child’s story with anyone. Whom the story is shared with is completely at the discretion of the User and their parents, if the User is under age 13.
If you do not want your child to use the We Save the World platform, do not authorize their account or sign a permission form. Any information collected about you or your child will be deleted within 90 days. We will do it faster if we can, but we have a small staff, so we can’t guarantee it. We can guarantee that we won’t use your information for any purpose. To ensure speedy deletion, send an email request to connect@wesavetheworld.org.
